Riding bikes, changing lives.
National Center for Youth Development empowers youth to build a community—where they can find identity and purpose—through age-based programming on and off the bike.
What We Do
We provide programming for youth ages 5 to 18, centered around mountain biking, including group rides, skills and race training, strength training, social activities, and community service. Our programming is guided by our Youth Board of Directors with the support of an Adult Board of Directors. Our youth riders are supported by a dedicated team of coaches—all of whom are trained not only in coaching youth on bikes but also in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for youth development.
Our Partners
Partner programs provide a pathway for cycling development adherent to evidence-based best practice.
Giving Back
We are dedicated to building and sustaining a healthy community—in our neighborhood, in the broader Twin Cities, and among our youth members. NCYD community members serve our local community through activities like outreach, trail stewardship, equity in biking, bike maintenance, and coaching and development. Participating in community service is a requirement for Yo Devo Team members and encouraged for all.
“I am involved with NCYD because of how much this team has done for me. I want to give more people the opportunity to be a part of this community.”
“I think that we have a strongly connected team that can do a lot of good.”
“I have made many awesome friendships and memories, and want to help make other peoples’ experiences the same.”
