Our Approach
We believe the bicycle is the perfect vehicle for working with youth to build community to find the identity and purpose they seek. Here’s how we put this belief into action.
We empower youth.
Confidence
We work to empower our youth on and off the bike. From giving kids a safe space to learn on-bike skills to opening the door to leadership opportunities, we aim to send this message: You are capable.
Connection
We are committed to ensuring all of our youth feel a sense of safety, structure, and belonging. Our goal is to give kids a foundation from which they can develop positive bonds with one another and social institutions.
We follow a long-term youth development model.
Competence
We’re not about short-term results. We use the power of cycling to help our youth build skills that will serve them for life—and from which they can draw to navigate school, work, and social situations.
Character
A bike ride is never just a bike ride. Teaching kids how to handle their bikes—and themselves—gives them a sense of independence and individuality. Doing so within an inclusive, supportive learning environment instills values that apply both on and off trail.
We focus on community.
Contribution
Our shared passion for cycling inspires us to give back to the Twin Cities cycling community. By showing up for other organizations and supporting causes close to our hearts, we’re building a better community for all.
Caring
The ways in which we show up for our community include signing up for trail work, volunteering for events, and engaging in social justice initiatives, to name a few. Our youth know firsthand what it means to have sympathy and empathy for our neighbors.
